613 Success Story: Patricia Fiorino

My name is Patricia Fiorino, but everyone knows me as Tricia or Trish. I am 45 years old and have been doing CrossFit for two years. I have been teaching elementary kids and elementary teachers for 19 years. I am a singer and have directed various kids choirs over the years. I was brought up in Scotland and it has had a huge influence on who I am today and my love for the outdoors and the arts. 

What prompted you to begin training at CrossFit 613?

I started CrossFit at CrossFit 613 as I was looking for a different way of exercising. My current regime was not giving me the results I was looking to achieve. My friend was seeing great results from training at CrossFit and her testimonial influenced me to try it out. I haven't turned back since.

What was your greatest concern, fear or scepticism when you considered CrossFit?

My greatest concern and fear before starting CrossFit was that I wouldn't be able to do the workout as I wasn't an athlete. I had heard horror stories of people passing out half way through CrossFit workouts and I envisioned this being me. I wasn't the high school athlete and the thought of working out so hard that I might "pass out" scared me. 

Describe the most pleasant surprise of training at CrossFit 613.

My greatest surprise from training at CrossFit 613 is the fact that I have been doing things athletically that I never envisioned I could do!. This has helped developed my confidence, which has crossed over into all parts of my life.  I have changed my personal vision of myself and realize now that my potential is not limited to what I think I can do. I can do way more!! 

How has your health and fitness improved since you started training at CrossFit 613?

My health and fitness has improved since starting at CrossFit 613. I am stronger, can endure more intense training, I developed lean muscle, have more flexibility and joint mobility and way more energy. I am also more aware of how food affects my fitness and my life. Managing stress has become easier as I am able to manage stressful situations with more clarity and calmness. I have also built strong relationships with my peeps at CrossFit 613 and this fulfills my emotional health. 

Would you recommend CrossFit/CrossFit 613 to others?

I absolutely would recommend crossFit/CrossFit 613 to anyone. I have recommended it to many. CrossFit 613 is an amazing gym, with experienced and knowledgable trainers who are professionals. The programming meets the needs of all skill levels, allowing everyone to train and develop their skills. Proper technique is essential at CrossFit 613 and I have been able to train without being hurt as the coaches ensure you have technique before putting on heavy weights. They focus  on all areas of development, mobility/gymnastics, strength training and endurance and offer a variety of more focused classes to work on these areas as well as the daily WODs and strength training. 

I now envision myself as an athlete and I give this credit to being part of the CrossFit community, particularly the CrossFit 613 community. Everyone I have met at CrossFit 613 is encouraging, positive and approachable. I am part of a CrossFit family and am beyond proud to recommend CrossFit 613 as the gym of choice.
